Description
This class will focus on preparing
students for the four sections of the ACT test (English, Math, Reading, and
Science), will devote time to the writing components of both the ACT and SAT,
and will help students develop college application essays. The class components
will include learning and practicing strategies specific to the ACT, reviewing
content related to the four sections, discussing writing strategies, evaluating
sample essays, and brainstorming application essay topics.
Homework Expectations
Outside of class, students will
watch a variety of supplemental videos, take sample tests for each of the
sections, continue their review of the content included in the ACT, write
essays for the ACT and SAT, and write rough and final drafts of 2 college
application essays. Students will use the text, Cracking the ACT, and a variety of handouts related to the ACT,
SAT, and Common Application.
